常磐公園は市内の中心にあり、都市の中のオアシスとして長年、市民に愛されている広大な公園です。この常磐公園は四季折々様々な風景を私たちに見せてくれますが、秋になると公園内の木々が徐々に紅葉しはじめ、赤や黄色の葉を落としてゆく様はまさに芸術的な風景といえます。公園内設置されている彫刻群と相まって、公園を訪れる人々を魅了しています。やがては、公園内樹木の「冬囲い」作業が見られるようになり、長い冬へむけた準備が始まります。
Tokiwa Park has long been loved as an oasis in the middle of the Asahikawa city center. Each season brings its own natural beauty, but fall is particularly spectacular, with the leaves on the trees slowly turning red and yellow and falling all around you. With this beautiful scene and the sculptures set up around the park, Tokiwa Park in fall is like a picture postcard. When all of the leaves have fallen, you can see the tree trunks being covered for winter, to protect them from the snow and cold winds of the long winter.
